Why use slip resistant matting?
A few stats
- Over 800,000 people each year are hospitalized from falls according to the CDC
- Falls are the most common cause of traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
- A UK Study found that Slipperiness or slipping were found to contribute to between 40 and 50% of fall-related occupational injuries
Reducing the slipperiness of walking surfaces at increased risk of falls is beneficial to everyone. Areas such as pool-side decking, aquatic centers, bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers are all potential areas where a higher incidence of slip and fall injuries occur.
These locations benefit from Poly Extruded Matting that is soft enough for bare feet to walk on and that drains water providing a stable walking surface when wet.
High-Traffic Outdoor Area
Golf Courses and Country Clubs are other common recreational places where outdoor walkways and pedestrian crossings can become slippery with the elements. In particular bridges, steps, and walkways get slick with wet or freezing weather and pose unintentional falling injury risks to patrons.
By reinforcing slick pedestrian walkways with slip-resistant high-traffic matting facility management can foster a safe environment and help thwart injury and potential liability.
