ITC 100 HT Ceramic Refractory Coating for Forge or Furnace

by ITC
$72.48
SKU 100HT
Size

ITC 100 HT product is a high-temperature coating with a rating of up to 5000°F that has been shown to provide exceptional refractory protection and energy savings. The coating is utilized as a covering for refractory brick, castable, or ceramic fiber insulation. In particular, this is used in forges, kilns, and furnaces. For kilns, it minimizes glaze sticking.
NOT suitable for food-grade applications such as pizza ovens

ITC-100 treatment coatings typically equate to one inch of insulation.

Available in Pint, 1-gallon, & 5-gallon sizes

This coating reflects radiant heat back into the furnace to reduce heat loss. The refractory capability saves money by retaining heat inside of the kiln and takes less fuel to operate and less time to achieve a high temperature of 4000-5000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Usage: 100HT can be used by itself or as a base coat, depending on the application, and used over castable refractory or ceramic fiber-lined furnaces.

  • Reflectivity occurs around 900*F and becomes more efficient until the maximum temperature is achieved.
  • Coverage: 6-12 square feet/pint
  • Rated for up to 5,000 degrees F
  • Save up to 60% on energy heating costs

100HT Pint Container Usage rates by application:

  • Fiber Lining: 5 square feet
  • Brick Lining IFB (Insulating Fire Brick): 10 square feet
  • Brick Lining or Hard Cast Refractory: 6-12.5 square feet

ITC HIGH TEMPERATURE COATINGS

WHAT IS ITC 100HT CERAMIC COATING?

100HT ceramic coating is a type of coating applied to surfaces to protect them and improve their performance. Ceramic coatings are typically made of inorganic, non-metallic materials, such as silicon carbide or aluminum oxide, and they are known for their durability, hardness, and high-temperature resistance.

Specifically the 100HT ceramic is known for its high-temperature resistance. The "HT" in the name stands for "high temperature," and the coating is rated for up to 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes 100HT ceramic coating an ideal choice for applications where the coated surface is exposed to high temperatures, such as in the automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing industries.

This coating is typically applied to surfaces using a spray, brush, or roller, and it is allowed to cure before it is put into use. Once applied, the coating creates a hard, durable layer that can protect the surface from wear, abrasion, and high temperatures. It is also resistant to chemicals and UV radiation, which makes it a durable and long-lasting coating option for a wide range of applications.

Common industry applications:

  • Energy and power generation: High-temperature and abrasive resistant coatings are used in the energy and power generation industry to protect the surfaces of turbines, generators, and other equipment from the high temperatures and abrasive conditions encountered during operation.
  • Manufacturing and industrial environments: In manufacturing and industrial environments, high-temperature and abrasive resistant coatings are used to protect the surfaces of machinery and equipment from wear and tear, as well as to improve their performance and extend their lifespan.
  • Chemical processing: High-temperature and abrasive resistant coatings are used in the chemical processing industry to protect the surfaces of tanks, pipes, and other equipment from the corrosive effects of chemicals and high temperatures.

100HT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS & TESTING DATA

Installation

  • ITC 100HT can be used as a final coat over ITC ITC 213, ITC 148 and ITC 200EZ. ITC 100HT can be used as a stand-alone product if applied over hard refractory, brick or ceramic fiber.
  • Remove and repair all loose and weakened brick and hard refractory.
  • Remove all dust from previously ITC coated and dried surfaces. Remove all debris, dust and grease from interior walls, doors, crown, floor and grooves.
  • Prepare the ITC 100HT for spraying per the mixing instructions by adding ½” container of water to one full container of ITC 100HT.
  • Spray entire surface with ITC 100HT using a minimum of 80 psi of air pressure. DO NOT RUSH and do not leave any areas uncoated. The thickness of the sprayed coating should be approximately 1/16” to 1/8” thick. The distance of the spray nozzle to the fiber surface should be approximately 16”.
  • DO NOT OVER SPRAY. Too thick of an application will cause material to fail prematurely.
  • Allow to dry overnight.

Installation Notes:

For small areas, you can use a brush. Typically, an inexpensive 1" (25mm) brush works well, but for tighter spaces, a large artist's paintbrush around 1/2" (12mm) is more suitable. When applying to ceramic fiber, usually two coats are necessary. The first coat can be briefly fired before applying the second coat.

NOTE: Do not use excessive heat to dry the coating during the first 24 hours after installation. Either use fans to move the air or simply leave it to dry overnight. The first firing should be started with low heat at first for approximately six hours. Do not exceed 600 F

** After the spraying process is complete, the operation of any enclosed furnaces MUST BE REPROGRAMED to prevent over firing the furnace.**
