Flame Stop ii is a premium, water-based fire retardant and wood preservative designed for superior protection on porous, unsealed woods. Ideal for testing applications, smaller projects, or full-scale treatments, it excels on lumber, decking, structural timber, cedar shake shingles, log homes, and other exterior/interior wood surfaces.
When properly applied (typically at a coverage rate of 125 sq ft per gallon with no runoff), Flame Stop II delivers a Class A fire rating — achieving a Flame Spread of 25 and Smoke Developed of 25 on Douglas fir per ASTM E-84 standards. It penetrates deeply into the wood's cellular structure, forming a molecular bond that triggers a self-extinguishing reaction upon contact with open flame, helping prevent fire spread.
This one-coat, post-treatment solution is:
- Non-combustible and non-carcinogenic
- Free of PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers)
- Biodegradable and low-VOC
- Easy to apply by spray, brush, roller, or immersion
- Dries clear without altering the wood's natural appearance or structural integrity
Flame Stop ii is excellent on various wood applications. This product treats porous woods, lumber, and cedar shake shingles. When it's applied correctly, it provides a Class A Fire Rating.
This product is water-based, requiring only a single coating for most applications. This is applied as post-treatment and is non-combustible, non-carcinogenic, and super easy to use on unsealed wood.
Tested ASTM E-84, NFPA 255, and UL 723 has provided a "Class A" Flame Spread index of 25. This is the best possible rating awarded to fire-retardant building products like concrete.
