Insul Stick is a medium-weight refractory castable product designed for high-temperature applications. It is an insulating compound ideal for casting custom shapes for woodstoves, fireplace hearths, walls, boilers, furnaces, and more.

Specs

Coverage: Approximately 2.5 lbs covers one sq. ft at 1/2 inch thickness. 
A full 20 lb pail covers 8 sq. ft. at 1/2" thickness. 

Mixing Instructions: Add 3/4 to 1 quart of clean water per 5 lbs of dry mix and blend thoroughly. No additional additives are required.

USING INSUL STICK

Application Guidelines:

  • Thickness: Apply Insul Stick at a thickness of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
  • Surface Adherence: Adheres to most non-slippery surfaces, strengthening any wall.
  • Temperature Resistance: Suitable for applications exceeding 2000°F.
  • Usage: Ideal for repairs to brick, block, stone, clay flues, and other clay products. Non-water soluble when in service.

Installation:

  • Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface is clean and non-slippery.
  • Mix the Compound: Add 3/4 to 1 quart of clean water to each 5 lbs of Insul Stick. Mix thoroughly until you achieve a consistent texture.
  • Apply the Compound: Using your preferred method (casting, troweling, parging, or spraying), apply the compound at the desired thickness.
  • Cure and Use: Allow the compound to cure as needed, then use in applications where temperatures exceed 2000°F.
