Flame Stop II is a Class A fire-retardant spray engineered for application to untreated porous wood surfaces. When treated properly, the wood surface will self-extinguish flames and help prevent the spread of fire and smoke. This treatment is ideal for preventing fire ignition from stray embers or an ignition source. This is not designed to prevent wildfires. 

The 55-gallon size is ideal for contractors on commercial jobs or larger residential projects. 

A sprayer can apply this product to cover larger surface areas. 

Class A Fire Rating
Tested ASTM E-84, NFPA 255, and UL-723 holds a "Class A" Flame Spread index of 25. This is the highest possible rating for fire-retardant building products such as concrete.

Flame Stop ii Coverage & Application Best Practices

  • Application Methods: Spray, Roll, Brush, or Immersion
  • Coverage Rates: Single application provides 125 square feet per gallon, 6,875 square feet per 55 gallon drum
  • Cure Time: single coat requires 48 hour curing period, test only after cure is complete
  • Spray Application: Use low-pressure airless sprayer with .012 nozzle tip for best results 

To achieve the specified fire rating, it is important to apply each Flame Stop product at its recommended coverage rate, as indicated in square feet per gallon. If after the project application is complete you have a significant amount of product left after application, it is likely that the recommended coverage rate was not met. Therefore, it is important to measure carefully before ordering to ensure that the correct amount of product is purchased. Please note that due to product liability,
